Often hilarious, this is the sound of middle-age men mixing horror with black humour (Worm Tamer’s priceless line: ”My baby calls me the Loch Ness monster. Two great big humps and I’m gone”) in songs that mix garage swamp blues with primitive psychedelic distorted Rock ”n” Roll. There are few opportunities to catch your breath.
Jenny Lewis and Jonathan Rice have been creatively and romantically involved for half a decade. On this joint project they strum and harmonize their way through a selection of upbeat, loose and carefree songs. The album looks back to California in the 1970’s, whilst at the same time maintaining a modern pop feel. They are in love. They are rocking out. They are just having fun now!
