I morgen er det 24 år siden, at ’14 Songs’ kom på gaden

He's my favorite, but anybody who thinks all of his songs were written off the top of his head I think will be surprised. A lot of his stuff comes from the Bible and from other poems that he arranges in his own way, which there is nothing wrong with. I don't think anything just comes from nowhere”

Til trods for, at Paul Westerbergs skarpe intellekt, hans kreative begavelse og evne til at formulere tanker og følelser, har han altid forsvaret det at være uskolet, selvlært eller hvad man nu engang kalder det. Et statement eller en rockattitude, man genkender fra et helt kuld af musikere fra den amerikanske arbejderklasse og lavere middelklasse. Det er vistnok det åbningssangen på ’14 Songs’ handler om:
